Agricultural Services

Agricultural sector is a best prospect industry sector for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan produces a wide variety of crops, with excellent climatic conditions and an extended growing season. Being the globally trusted laboratory with the richest accreditation scope Azecolab offers agricultural business owners, agronomists and farmers all types of laboratory services which includes: sampling, testing, on-site measurement. Azecolab has mobile laboratory which can be used for specific customers’ requests.

Soil Sampling and Tests

Plants require nutrients and an acceptable soil pH to grow well. Soil testing is the best way to find out how much fertilizer to apply based on the crop and existing field conditions. Therefore, before using fertilizer, Azecolab recommends business owners, agronomists, farmers to send soil samples to our laboratory for baseline testing. By testing their soil, our clients will know which nutrients—and how much—to apply to the soil.

Which data will soil testing provide?

Soil testing measures the soil’s nutrient-holding capacity and provides a basis for sound land management decisions. The lime and fertilizer recommendations on the soil test report are made based on the yields desired, nutrient sufficiency levels and desired pH.

Proposed Soil Tests

Routine soil samples are analyzed for soil pH, nitrate nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, soluble salts and other parameters based on the client requirements.

Water Sampling and Tests

Water analysis for agricultural purposes indicates suitability of water for use in irrigation systems. Azecolab performs sampling, on-site testing and laboratory testing of water samples. Basic Irrigation suitability packages include tests for:

  • pH
  • Electric Conductivity
  • Calcium
  • Nitrate-N
  • Nitrite-N
  • Magnesium
  • Sodium
  • Potassium
  • Chloride
  • Sulphate
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
  • Hardness
  • Bicarbonate

Fertilizer Testing

Soils naturally contain many nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, and potassium. These nutrients allow plants to grow. When soil nutrients are missing or in short supply, plants suffer from nutrient deficiency and stop growing. When the nutrient level is too low, nutrients from a variety of sources (organic matter, chemical fertilizers, and even by some plants) shall be added which maintains the soil fertility. In this case it’s very important to select the correct fertilizer. Fertilizer use is very expensive and can harm the environment if not used correctly. Therefore, before adding fertilizer, uses have to know physical and chemical characterization of it. After laboratory testing agronomist can calculate the right amount, at the right time, to avoid potential negative effects to the plants and the environment. Azecolab offers testing of all major groups of fertilizers (e.g. nitrogen based fertilizers, phosphate based fertilizers, NPKs, etc.)

Eco-toxicology Tests

Daphnia are typically freshwater organisms. Azecolab offers its customers Daphnia magna 48 hrs acute test performed according to OECD 202 as it is a useful aquatic organism for testing toxicity of agricultural chemicals. All over the world this eco-toxicology test is conducted for different chemicals including pesticides applied in agricultural business.
