Soil Sampling and Tests

Which data will soil testing provide?
Soil testing measures the soil’s nutrient-holding capacity and provides a basis for sound land management decisions. The lime and fertilizer recommendations on the soil test report are made based on the yields desired, nutrient sufficiency levels and desired pH.

Soils naturally contain many nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, and potassium. These nutrients allow plants to grow. In this case it’s very important to select the correct fertilizer. Fertilizer use is very expensive and can harm the environment if not used correctly. Therefore, before adding fertilizer, uses have to know physical and chemical characterization of it. After laboratory testing agronomist can calculate the right amount, at the right time, to avoid potential negative effects to the plants and the environment.
