Environmental Monitoring

Eco-toxicology is the study of the effects of toxic chemicals on biological organisms. The ultimate goal of this approach is to be able to predict the effects of pollution so that the most efficient and effective action to prevent or remediate any detrimental effect can be identified.

Azecolab has ISO 17025 accredited and GLP compliant eco-toxicology laboratory specialized for the below listed acute tests:

  1. Caspian Seawater Zooplankton Eco-toxicology test – Calanipeda aquae dulcis (48h LC50)
  2. Caspian Seawater Phytoplankton Eco-toxicology test –Chaetoceros tenuissimus (72h EC50)
  3. Caspian Sediment Reworker Eco-toxicology test – Pontogammarus maeoticus (96h LC50)
  4. Freshwater Zooplankton Eco-toxicology test – Daphnia magna (48h LC50)

Azecolab has experienced, trained staff, special designed laboratory with culture and constant temperature rooms. We have all required resources to process a lot of samples at the same time.

All Azecolab testing procedures are based on international accepted methods (ISO, EPA, OSPAR and OECD protocols). In addition, CSEP is taken into account in the specific Caspian culture maintenance procedures.

One of the most important thing in the eco-toxicology study is to use globally trusted statistical data analysis software which will guarantee the correct calculation of LC/EC50 values. Azecolab uses international software with specific add-ons for Caspian organisms.

To ensure the quality of performed tests Azecolab uses reference toxicants and plots QC charts. In the end of each study all tests results are validated against the approved validity criteria for the study.

Azecolab clients are provided with full pack of documents related to the performed eco-toxicology study as it’s required by GLP protocols.
